Featured Friday: Britax Travel Cart

by Susan on March 30, 2012 · 0 comments

Featured Friday is a series dedicated to products, people and places that I think everyone should know about.

The Zoo was a success and Caden really enjoyed seeing some animals. I usually don’t post on the weekends but come back tomorrow for a post on The San Diego Zoo!

Also, if you haven’t entered our Get Clean Giveaway yet, make sure you enter before Tuesday night!

The Problem

When flying with a baby or small child you must have a car seat and you only have three options. Rent one. Bring your own. Or borrow one from a friend or family member.

When we went to Hawaii, Nate’s sister was nice enough for us to use hers so we didn’t need to worry about it. This time we either had to bring our own or rent one. So, I looked into renting one and found they can be about 50-60 bucks a week. Not bad, but if you travel a lot it can add up. We decided we wanted to bring ours, we know ours is safe and he’s comfortable in it. Not to mention it’s nice to save the extra money.

The problem is our Britax Marathon is huge and heavy. Carrying this thing through the airport would not be fun! So, I went online and did some research and discovered the Britax Travel cart!

What is the Britax Travel Cart

It’s a small metal structure that folds flat that can easily be stored in the overhead bins on the plane. In fact, it’s made that you can put your child in the car seat while you pull them. Which means you wouldn’t have to push a stroller.

The Solution

We opted to try out the Britax Travel cart. I am absolutely head over heels in love with this thing. The best 60 bucks we have ever spent.

It worked fantastic and it’s so easy that if I’m ever flying alone with Caden I won’t have any problem pushing a stroller, carrying his diaper bag and pulling the travel cart.

 Britax Travel Carseat Cart

Instead of putting CK in the car seat and pulling him which we will do in the future, we put his car seat cover in the seat. Car Seat covers I think are a must. Sometimes airlines will leave them out in the rain and they get super dirty it you want your car seat to stay clean and dry invest in a cover. They aren’t expensive and they are great for protection. Attaching the seat to the cart literally took 30 seconds. All you do is use the latch hooks to hook onto the cart. Easy Peasy!

Once we got to the gate, we took the car seat off, put on the cover and instead of taking the car seat cart on the plane with us and putting it in the over head bin, it fit perfectly inside our car seat cover. Not to mention our car seat cover has a pocket on it so I sneaked some more toys in there for CK. :) Sneaky Sneaky!

Overall, I think this is a must to travel with, especially if you travel a lot with your kids. If you don’t have a Britax car seat I would recommend looking to see if they have something similar for your seat. And if not, maybe see if your car seat would work on this one. This is by far my favorite traveling product for the sole reason of convenience :)

What’s your favorite gadget or product to travel with?
