Does Time Changes effect your Milk Supply?

November 22, 2011 | By More

Thank you all so much for all the birthday wishes yesterday I’m overwhelmed by all the love on Facebook and Twitter. Yesterday Nate took me to a spa for a massage / mani & pedi and then we went out to a nice family dinner here in Hawaii. It was nice to be able to spend my 30th with our Hawaii Ohana :)

So, I’ve been thinking … Does Time Change effect your Milk Supply?

I’m a little confused on the boob issue. I’ve always wondered if your body makes milk at certain times or is it certain amounts?

For instance when your little one starts sleeping through the night does your body adjust to making less milk at night and the same amount during the day or does your body make less milk in general.

I mean think about it if your body does make less at certain times don’t you think throwing yourself into a 5 hour difference (Hawaii time) will throw off my supply for a couple of days? I mean he is now eating when he’s suppose to be sleeping and sleeping when he’s usually eating. This has been boggling my mind.

I’m wandering this because I don’t think I’m quite ready to go cold turkey and stop breastfeeding as soon as we get back. I’d like to wean him off slowly. But if my supply is going to be messed up, do I really want to get it back on track  to start weaning him.

What do you guys think?

  1. Happy 30th!
As for the milk supply, I have no idea. I only breastfed one of my 3 and I did it until he was 13 months old. Good luck to you!!!
