Inducing Labor … Naturally

I’m still victory lapping around, waiting on my trophy.

I can’t believe I only have 2 weeks left until my due date. My pregnancy itself has felt like it’s been creeping along but these last couple weeks have flown by for me which is awesome.

It’s funny by the time you start curving around that last bend in your pregnancy, you start hearing all sorts of stuff about inducing labor naturally. Especially if your like me and ready for him to come now. People start coming out of the woodwork telling you ways to get the ball rolling. I’m talking even strangers. I’ve heard lots of different things to get things going … some totally off the wall others not so crazy.

Here are a few that I’ve heard …

  • Walking
  • Spicy foods
  • Body Massages
  • Pedicures
  • Sex
  • Eggplant parmigiana
  • Evening Primrose Oil
  • Nipple stimulation
  • Acupressure
  • Raspberry Tea
  • Bumpy Car ride
  • Glass of wine
  • Pineapple
  • Kiwi
  • Swimming
  • Castro Oil (I will not be taking this crap, no matter how long my pregnancy ends up being)

I still have some time before pulling out all the cards to induce my labor if it doesn’t happen naturally. I have done a couple of these things already and don’t have a baby … so wondering if these really even work. I’ve eaten pineapple, spicy foods, walked, gone swimming etc. and it didn’t start up labor for me. (Not that I’ve trying) But it makes me think that in order for these types of things to work, maybe you have to be at a certain point in pregnancy. Or maybe it just works when the baby is ready. Who knows, just like everything else in pregnancy … no one can give you a definite answer :)

What’s your opinion do you think these things work?

Have you heard of any other ways to speed up the process?

I’ve heard nutty things about raspberry leaf tea… people swear by it! But maybe you still have a little time left before Caden is fully baked :)
