San Fransico and Napa Valley

We had a great time in San Fransisco, we just got back last night. The weather was absolutely amazing, I was expecting cloudy, 50′s, 60′s but it turned out unusually warm and clear skies. It was about 70′s in the city and outside of the city the temp jumped up to a high of 110. We both thought Napa Valley and Sonoma were colder but apparently we were wrong. Now grant it, there was less humidity but that sun was still blazing!

The first night I got into town, Nate said that his buddy Mike recommended a restaurant and that it was really good. He said we needed to leave at exactly 630; I was wondering why he was so persistent on leaving at a certain time.  Usually Nate is very laid back whatever time we get there is what ever time we get there. But I really didn’t think anything of it. We sat down at a booth and all of a sudden I see this guy that looks so familiar. I had to do like a triple take and still stare at him because it was not clicking in my head that our friend Dan was walking straight at us. Remind you that Dan lives in Charlotte … way on the east coast. So it was a great surprise and apparently Mike didn’t recommend the place, Dan did. :)

The next day we went up to Sonoma, and met up with a guy named Tim. We had lunch and then went to Raven’s wood which is the first winery I have ever been to.

They had great wine and it was off the beaten path to say. After that we went to our second winery right before it closed. Apparently lot of the wineries shut down their tasting rooms at 430/500. Once we were finished there Nate and I went back to the city and stopped at Fisherman’s Wharf, where we checked out the seals and had dinner and saw a beautiful sunset.

The following day we drove up to Napa and went to a couple more wineries and had dinner there. We went to a really cool winery called “The Castle”.  It took 14 years to build this winery, it has over 100 rooms and is over 101,000 sf. It is enormous. We did a tour of the castle and saw all sorts of cool stuff and learned how they store and make their wine. It was definitely a cool experience and I recommend anyone going out to Napa to stop by “The Castle”. Not to mention they have some great wines that aren’t sold in stores.

So, I’m watching your bridge video and this is me, “Just watch the road Nate, quit looking at the camera while you’re talking” and then a few seconds later Nate says Hi Mom and Missy and I just bust out laughing. MADE MY DAY!
