Nate had to go up to Columbus for work so I thought it would be a great time to go visit my friend Jessi in NYC for Labor Day Weekend. Last time we saw Jessi and Ela Caden was only about 2 months old. They came here to Charlotte and we couldn’t really do much because the babies were still so little. This trip was much more fun, the kids are old enough now to actually go out and do things. And lord knows there is SO much to do in NYC!
Thursday morning we were up early and off to the airport. The flight actually went great, we had an open seat next to us which was perfect because CK fell right asleep as soon as the engines came on. It was nice being able to put him down.
Jessi met us as soon as we got off the plane and we headed to go get some pizza. NY pizza is seriously the best pizza ever. After that we walked around saw some amazing views and went to Jane’s Carousel under the Brooklyn Bridge. After playing in the park we headed back home to feed the kiddos and relax. Although relaxing with two 1 year olds, is pretty much impossible. They are seriously like little tornadoes!
Friday we were on our own. Jessi had to work and Ela went to daycare. Caden napped in his stroller while I caught up with Mr. Grey and soaked up the scenery. We then headed back to the carousel, had some Meatballs for lunch, and played on the playground until it was time to take another nap and meet Ela, Thomaz and Jessi back at the apartment.
Saturday we went to the water park and then headed over to Governors Island on the Ferry. We rented some bikes to ride around the island. The kiddos were able to sit on the front, I mean seriously how fun is that? They really enjoyed it, well most of the time. There were a few little smacks here and there :). But by the time we got home Jessi and I were so pooped, we were both in bed before 9pm!
Sunday we went to grab lunch at a polish restaurant that Jessi and TB go to pretty frequently. After that we caught our flight home. Sounds like a peaceful day right, wrong. But I won’t go into that. Let’s just say we didn’t have the best trip home. Some delays, some belly aches and some melt downs; but over all the kids did great together and we really enjoyed our weekend trip to NYC!
