Key West: Places you must go!

by Susan on December 17, 2009 · 0 comments

Here are a list of places you have to go to if your in Key West, Fl.

Smallest Bar- It is located on Duval street, but watch out so you don’t miss it! It is literally the Smallest Bar. For pictures check out my previous post Smallest Bar in Key West

Smallest Bar

Better Than Sex,  A desert restaurant, it is so good and the portions are huge! Some of the dishes they have are “Big Daddy Cheesecake” and “Team Cream”- are sooo good! Nate had a “Cream in my coffee” and I had a “Egg Nog” off the One night stand menu (specials). Super cute and delicious!

Peter Lik – If you like Art you have to go into his gallery. His artwork is amazing and so bright and beautiful. I’m not huge on art but I sure do appreciate this! We first went into his gallery in Hawaii and we were walking in Key West and noticed he had one there too! A Must see!!

Sunset Key, Latitudes – You need to take a ferry (free) from Key West to Sunset Key. Only takes about 10 minutes ferry ride to get there. Sunset Key is very “resort like”. It is so peaceful. You can spend the day there, or simply just have breakfast or dinner! A must do since Key West isn’t really known for their beaches.

Louie’s Backyard – perfect restaurant on the water, great for sunsets and a few cocktails

Salutes – Also on the beach, perfect for sunsets.

Alonzo’s - reasonably priced, right on the harbor, over looks the boats and water. Their shrimp salad was great!

As for activities, I would totally recommend renting a bicycle, or a scooter and just go around the town. You can charter a boat like we did and go deep sea fishing, or even go snorkeling or scuba diving. It is a very tourist area so you will be able to find something to keep you busy. Key West isn’t known for their beaches because it is on a reef. So if your looking to layout and enjoy a nice beach you aren’t going to find it in Key West. However, you can on Sunset Key.

Hope this helps and enjoy your stay in Key West!
