An Ohio Christmas

Merry Christmas from our little Family to yours

Nate, Kala and I spent our Christmas Holiday in Ohio this year. We first drove up to Cleveland to visit my family, all 4 of us kids came home this year making my mom a very happy mom! It’s not that often that all of us get together so it was nice to have everyone home. We had a full house, 10 people and 4 dogs. The day before Christmas Eve Nate and I exchanged our gifts to each other. I figured he would want to use his so we went ahead and did our exchange. I got him an IPad with Mifi so he can use it anywhere and he got me a Really nice camera. The quality of the pictures are awesome and perfect timing for when Baby K comes. Later that day after my brother and his wife got there we made some Christmas cookies.

Us 3 sure did have a a production down. I did the mixing, mom did the measuring and Erin did the scoops. They turned out delicious, just ask my brother Dave. I think he had about 2 dozen. Later that night we all went out to dinner at Doogan’s in Aurora.

Then Nate and I went and met Libby and my friend Erika for a couple drinks. I of course had water. It was nice catching up with them both.

The next day (Christmas Eve) Erin, my mom and I finished up some Christmas shopping and relaxed a bit before we headed off to church. After that we headed home to open presents.

Where’s Waldo?

Dan's an elf

There were a ton and opening presents seriously took like 2 hours. We have a tradition of doing a white elephant Christmas eve after opening our gifts. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it is where we have gag gifts, and we all bring one to put under the tree. You then can pick a gift under the tree or steal one from another person. It ends up being really funny and some people get stuck with crappy gifts and others get good ones. We ended up with a Fondue set and 2 coffee cups and yard stick of Salt Water Taffy.

Matching scarfs!

One of the gifts was a marshmallow gun. Somehow trying to shoot marshmallows in Chris’s mouth turned into a nice game of Chubby Bunny. The object of this game is to put a marshmallow in your mouth and say Chubby Bunny. The next person does the same thing. You go around and add one marshmallow at a time. Who ever swallows the marshmallow, or in Dave’s case spit it across the room, loses. Chris had a a good idea of stuffing them into his one cheek until he started gaging. All of us were laughing so hard, I wish we had it on video! I seriously haven’t laughed that hard in a long time! Danny came out the big winner!

Round 3, Nate’s out

Right before Dave laughed so hard he spit it across the room, unfort. Tera was in the splash zone

Our next stop was Toledo, to visit some of Nate’s family. The first night we had a nice dinner with his mom, stuffed shells. It was delicious! The next day we went and saw Grandma and Grandpa Kennedy and Uncle Doug. It was nice catching up with them. Of course, Grandma Kennedy filled our bellies with some good breakfast. Even Kala got some ham and bacon. Right when we walked in the door, Kala went and sat right in front of Grandma Kennedy’s feet. He definitely remembered her from last time and knew she would be giving him some food. lol!

After that we went back to his mom’s and visited with some family. And we headed off to the Toledo Walleye’s game. (Hockey) with Nate’s brother Nick, his wife Bridget and our niece and nephews.

The Walleye’s Won

It was a lot of fun, even though I couldn’t drink I had an amazing root beer float. Little did we know that we have a huge sports nut on our hands. Carys sat throughout the whole game cheering on the team. It was so adorable!

I wish I would have taken more pictures in Toledo but I didn’t :( . After the game we headed back to Nick and Bridget’s house, had a couple of beers (Nate did) and actually got to “see” our Hawaii family! It was such a nice surprise! Nate’s mom and dad and sisters got a web cam for Christmas so we were all talking with them.

The next night we went and had Pizza with Nick, Nate and Becky. The pizza was awesome, it was deep dish and I literally could only have one piece even eating for two. The pieces were huge but oh so good!

The next morning we headed back to North Carolina. The weather was good but the 9 hour trip it should have been turned into almost 14 hour trip. It was awful, and my butt hurt so bad from sitting in the car all day. But we made it home, with a great trip under our belts. It was so nice to be around family for the holidays.
