The Real Reasons I Blog

As you may have read yesterday one thing I learned this past weekend was that one of my friends told me he thought it was cheesy and stupid that I blogged. It didn’t upset me and I didn’t take offensive at all (which actually surprised me; usually when I’m passionate about something I get pretty protective.) But instead I just laughed it off and chalked it up to “He just doesn’t get it.”

The thing is A LOT of people just don’t get it. Friends, family members sometimes even spouses. (Fortunately my husband is the one that really gets it and supports me 110%) But the majority of people have no clue why us bloggers do what we do.

They just don’t understand why we would put so much time and energy into something like a blog. So I thought it would be an appropriate time to let you in on the Real reasons I blog.

I blog because I like the interaction. I’m one social being, in fact my 7th grade teacher called me Miss Butterfly because I was always socializing in class instead of paying attention. Thanks to twitter I’ve even made a couple local friends here in Charlotte. Having a blog and interacting with my readers is what I look forward to. It’s so nice talking to other people who share the same interest as me.

I blog because I like to make money. Obviously, I’m not making bank but even making some money doing something you love is very rewarding.

I blog because I like to have a little spot on the web. A place I can call my own and do whatever I want with it. I get to share our stories, pictures and travels with the world; not to mention my opinions. Who wouldn’t want a spot where they can say whatever they want?

I blog because I like to document our lives. It’s like an online journal that one day I can share with my children and grandchildren.

I blog because I like to share. If I find a certain product, person or place that I love I don’t want to keep that to myself. I want to tell everyone so they can try it out too.

I blog because I like to be real. There are tons of blogs out there that only talk about the good. Life isn’t all butterflies and rainbows. And I like my readers to know they aren’t the only ones who go through the lows of life.

And lastly …

I blog because I love it. It’s fun. Plain and Simple.

Now I told you why I blog …. Why do you blog?

I blog because I enjoy it, and because it’s a way to keep my family and friends (that live far) informed about our life. And I like the feeling of accomplishment I get after I’ve put time and effort into a post :-)

Yes it’s a great way to keep the family in the loop … you don’t have to tell the same story over and over and over again :)

I started blogging because I wanted to document my baking experiments, then surprise, baby b was on his way. I have continued blogging because I love it, but I have also met wonderful women who are moms. For that I am so grateful, since none of my friends have kids, and it’s a great community!

I agree! It’s so nice to be able to go to friends that are on the same level and have the same interest … I love that I’ve met so many great moms, now if only we could all meet someday :)
