What I Learned This Weekend

March 5, 2012 | By More

I want to first Thank each and every one of you who took the time to fill out my survey. I’ve gotten some great feedback which will help me tremendously. I’ll be posting about the results soon, but if you haven’t had a chance yet; click the link above and fill it on out! Thanks again so much for all your support, suggestions and comments! I appreciate it more then you know :) .  On to what I learned.

I Learned This Weekend that:

  • I have to keep my computer cords out of reach of CK. This is the 2nd computer cord that he’s ruined because he puts the end that goes in the computer in his mouth. I’ve tried the rice trick but they still don’t work. Apple, here we come.

  • I want to make myself like running. More on this later in the week but let’s just say one of my best friends has inspired me and because I’m limited on time I think this would be an awesome / quick workout for me. Problem is I hate running. So, if you have any tips on where I should begin .. let me know.

  • Children’s wooden puzzles are expensive … I mean 20 bucks for a 4 piece wooden puzzle… A little ridiculous, no?

  • Caden is an official walker. Something just clicked with him from Saturday night to Sunday morning and all of a sudden he could walk everywhere. It was crazy. I really think it has something to do with the fact that he hung out with a 2 and 3 year old Saturday night. They must have gave him a few pointers. But whatever it is, he’s walking everywhere and I finally got the little man on video …

  • The cabinet locks I had are worthless and had to get new ones.

  • My son has an infatuation with the trash can. It’s disgusting. So, we had to up our child proofing game.

  • Life is precious and unpredictable. Yesterday I was reminded how truly precious life is and that we are never guaranteed tomorrow. RIP Bobby, you’ll be greatly missed buddy!

  1. I’m not sure you can “make” yourself like one type of exercise. It might be better to find something that you already don’t despise! I used to love running, but it’s not for me anymore. In my (humble) opinion strength training and kettlebell training are much more effective for those with limited time.

Well here’s the deal, I don’t really “love” any type of cardio and I need some cardio in my life. I love pilates and yoga but even doing those I still feel out of shape and get winded when I’m running up and down stairs etc. Walks are great but I don’t have time for 1-2 hour walks and 30 minute walks don’t really do anything for me. Being able to just run outside for 30 minutes and feel like I got an actual workout in would be amazing .. that’s why I want to “love” running and I’ve heard many stories about people not liking running but after a while they started really enjoying it. I’m hoping I’m one of these people.

Can’t believe he is walking already, so exciting :)
I hated running and felt like I was never going to be good at it, but got into with the Couch to 5k program where you work in intervals of walking and running. I can now run for a while without stopping and actually enjoy myself. How did you childproof the trash?

    • Susan says:

Oh good your giving me hope! I’m glad to hear that. I’ll have to figure out what it was but it’s like a little latch that you just stick on. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about child proofing so I think I’ll be doing a post soon and I’ll find out for you. It works which is awesome and we didn’t have to get a new trash can.

Too funny that just like that CK is walking!!! I am also really trying to like running . I do it at least 2-3 times a week with my training an I’m starting to enjoy it more but I don’t love it yet. My trainer told me its one of those things that isnt fun until it is. If that makes senseSo. I do find that the more I do it the more I learn at what pace I am comfortable and that make it better for me. Good luck!

When I was running 3-4 days a week, it took a few months, but when I could feel a difference in how I felt after doing it – that is when I really started enjoying doing it. I’m just starting to get my butt back in gear again & it sucks how out of shape I’ve gotten. Hoping in a few months I’ll love it again!

So sorry to hear about your friend! That is horrible what happened!

    • Susan says:

Thanks, yeah it was completely unneccessary and one dumb move caused multiple lives to be ruined.

I’m right there with you I hope I enjoy it at least enough to continue to do it.

Wow, CK is off and running! And about the cords – Parker is the same way. He makes a beeline for any cord, all the time.

Don’t they always go straight for the things they aren’t suppose to touch. I mean they have all these toys and end up wanting the most simple things.
